Typically, the process to assess sleep apnea has been long and complex. Patients with appropriate symptoms are referred to a specialist by their primary care physician, a process which alone may take weeks. At the sleep center, an initial intake is conducted and an in-laboratory sleep study is ordered. The waiting list for this study can be long — often as much as four to eight weeks. Once the sleep study is conducted, the patient then returns to see the sleep physician to discuss the results and initiate treatment.
With Take-Home Sleep Testing, MSDC has now streamlined this process. Upon contacting our office, you’ll be scheduled for an appointment within days. At that time, you’ll take the home testing equipment with you for use that very night. The equipment is returned the next morning and you meet with one of our sleep specialists. We will discuss the results of the home test as well as possible treatment options.
